Injury lawsuits may follow claims of injury and illness caused by vaping

New York – Vaping illness is a growing concern in New York, much as it has become a concern throughout the world. The various vaping, or electronic cigarette, products only began being marketed approximately 13 years ago. Inadequate long-term information on the health effects of these e-cigarettes is available, despite the widespread marketing of these products to consumers. Outrage has been brewing amongst safety advocates, especially due to the marketing tactics used to get children, teens and adults hooked on these products. Some have accused manufacturers and retailers of vaping supplies of targeting audiences of people who would have avoided any form of smoking. They claim that the manufacturers and sellers of these products make possibly false claims about the health and safety of their products. It has now been noted that there are possible links between vaping and lung illness, such as asthma and even chemical pneumonia. Other research indicates a possible brain injury or chemical connection that causes seizures due to vaping. Further research is needed and ongoing according to scientists and doctors.

In the meantime, lawmakers and regulators have been looking closely into the topic. Several lawsuits have already been filed against the makers of vaping products. In addition, there have been in-depth discussions and lawsuits filed against deceptive marketing techniques that target innocent victims. A personal injury lawyer in New York has expressed concern regarding vaping lung illness connections as well as the possibility regarding seizures being caused by electronic vaping cigarettes. The injury lawyer specialist notes that injury lawsuits may be filed, including a class action lawsuit, if indicated. Motorcycle accident in Brooklyn involved improperly licensed rider

New York – Investigators into the cause of a motorcycle collision yesterday have indicated that the motorcycle rider did not hold the proper license and was therefore driving illegally. Police report that the crash involved two cars and the motorcyclist. Apparently, the driver of the motorcycle was driving dangerously, as he was attempting to do stunts, according to witnesses. They note that the dangerous driver was performing reckless maneuvers when his bike slammed into a car. That car then crashed into a second car after he was unable to stop. The motorcyclist was issued a citation and summons to court for his involvement in causing the car accident as well as his actions leading up to the crash. The charges may be based on the combination of being accused of being a reckless driver and not having the correct motorcycle license. The extent of the accident injuries is still unclear. Accident specialists explain that the common injuries for a motorcycle rider differ greatly from those suffered by drivers and occupants of cars. Extensive evaluation and testing is sometimes necessary to discover latent injuries suffered during a car crash. See this article for further information about this motor vehicle accident involving three vehicles.

Police officer injured on the job in motorcycle accident

New York – Investigators are still looking into details of a hit-and-run accident that seriously injured a police officer. The cop was working as a motorcycle officer at the time of the car crash. Officials say that a car slammed into the side of the motorcycle during the collision, sending the cop flying into the air and falling onto the ground. The broadside motorcycle accident caused critical injuries and sent the man to the hospital. The driver of the car then fled the scene and was tracked down shortly thereafter by another patrol officer. The hit-and-run driver was arrested and will likely be charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle collision with injuries as well as possible reckless driving. Meanwhile, the injury victim remains in the hospital in stable condition but unable to work. It is unclear on whether or not he will be able to return to work or if he will be out on disability for an extended period. According to sources, he may even be left with permanent disability due to his work injuries. A worker who is injured at work usually has his injury and healthcare expenses covered by worker’s compensation. However, some workers find that they require the assistance of a worker’s comp lawyer to help ensure that they are given proper care. In addition, it is sometimes necessary to file a workman’s comp lawsuit claim against the insurer. This article shares more about this motorcycle crash.

Pedestrian injured in ambulance accident

New York – A police ambulance in Nassau County on Long Island struck and injured a young man in a pedestrian struck accident. The pedestrian accident occurred when the ambulance was making a turn and hit the man who had been crossing the street. Investigators indicated that the crash took place while the ambulance was travelling with lights and sirens to an emergency call. The injury victim was then rushed to the hospital with critical injuries according to doctors. This is, unfortunately, not an uncommon event where an ambulance hits a pedestrian. Another such case took place only a few days earlier with a Fire Department of New York (FDNY) ambulance striking a pedestrian teen crossing the street.

It should be noted that emergency medical technicians and paramedics are trained in the safe operation of their emergency vehicles, including ambulances and first response vehicles. They are supposed to undergo intense training to avoid such catastrophic collisions such as this. Included in the protocols is that the driver must always be aware that they must operate the emergency vehicle in such a manner as to protect others, even when responding to an emergency with lights and sirens. They should be aware that other drivers and pedestrians may not hear, see or be aware of the emergency vehicle until the last moment and must therefore be ready to stop. Despite the emergency nature of their response to an emergency call, there is little that justifies injuring or killing someone else on their way to the call. Due caution is their ultimate responsibility and a crash can sometimes be due to negligence or even reckless driving. Further investigations will be necessary to determine the cause of these specific ambulance collisions. Please read more about the most recent ambulance accident here.

Long Island car crash leaves victim dead and one man arrested

New York – The driver of a sport utility vehicle (SUV) died in a multi vehicle car collision on the Long Island Expressway. The man, a senior citizen, was the driver of one of five vehicles involved in the accident. Police report that the chain of events began when the SUV slammed into the highway divider and then rolled over into traffic. The roll-over accident then caused other vehicles to hit into that SUV that was in oncoming traffic. They believe that a medical emergency possibly led to the SUV truck accident. The other drivers and passengers in the accident suffered varying injuries according to emergency responders. However, police were forced to arrest one of those other drivers for driving without a license. A New York accident lawyer explained that there are several complicated factors that will need to be addressed. Investigators and lawyers will need to determine if the driver of the SUV should have ever been permitted to drive in order to determine if any negligence was involved. Doctors are sometimes required to instruct a patient that they are not allowed to drive if they have certain medical illnesses that could precipitate a motor vehicle accident. For example, a patient with an uncontrolled epilepsy seizure disorder may be prohibited from driving under medically cleared. In fact, some jurisdictions require the doctor to contact the department of motor vehicles to report such a case. In addition, patients often bear the responsibility to not drive if they knowingly have a medical condition that prevents their safe operation of a car. This article explains more about this SUV accident.

Helicopter crashed and killed one accident victim in New York City

New York – A second helicopter crash in Manhattan occurred within the past couple of weeks. This crash occurred when the helicopter collided into the roof of a building in the area of Times Square in midtown Manhattan. One man, possibly the pilot, was killed in the accident. His fatal injuries were so extensive that medical professionals were unable to save him. The cause of this accident is still being investigated by aviation transportation officials. However, there have been some reports of possible mechanical failure that caused the engine to stall. This chopper crash is very concerning to citizens in the city who fear for their safety. It is reminiscent of the previous helicopter accident https://morrisonwagner.com/helicopter-accident-in-manhattan/ that just recently occurred alongside the Hudson River. Public safety advocates have long warned of the dangers of flying helicopters in and around the heavily populated city. They note that the dense pedestrian and vehicular traffic can set the scene for a disaster with multiple and extensive accident injuries. Some feel that the helicopters fly too low and fast and may not be properly maintained. In addition, the requirements for proper oversight of training and following of safety protocols are essential. See this article for more on this more recent fatal chopper collision.

Helicopter accident in Manhattan

New York – The pilot of a helicopter that crashed into the Hudson River was treated for injuries after being rescued. He apparently was flying the helicopter, trying to take off, when it suffered a technical problem. This caused the aircraft to lose control and then crash into ground but sent the pilot into the river waters. Fire rescue teams rescued the man and transferred him to emergency medical professionals for treatment of his accident injuries. Officials say that he was very lucky to have suffered relatively minor and non-life threatening injuries during the accident. However, it is unclear what psychological injuries he may have suffered during the crash. Investigators will need to continue evaluating what caused the malfunction and determine if any negligent maintenance or other problem existed. In addition, a bystander on the chopper helipad apparently suffered a slip and fall injury while trying to run away from the impending collision. That victim reportedly suffered a wrist injury due to the trip and fall accident. Find out further details about the accident with injuries here.

Driver under the influence of drugs crashes head-on into another vehicle

New York – This horrific head-on collision occurred when a speeding driver entered the Queens-Midtown tunnel heading in the wrong direction. The wrong-way accident vehicle slammed into a car coming in the opposite direction, when it couldn’t swerve out of the way in time. A dashcam video of the car accident was taken from the car that was struck by the wrong-way driver. The video shows the car crash and the vehicles colliding and ultimately coming to an abrupt halt. Police indicated that the driver of the car that entered the tunnel in the wrong direction was high on drugs. They believe that he had been using both cocaine and marijuana at the time of the motor vehicle collision. He apparently fled the scene of the accident with injuries. The hit-and-run accident was witnessed and a police officer who had just entered the tunnel stopped and arrested the fleeing man. In addition, that driver was apparently unlicensed and using his father’s vehicle. It is unclear if the father was aware or gave permission to the unlicensed man to use the car. Likewise, it is not certain whether or not the parent knew that his son would be driving while under the influence of drugs. Specifics of the injuries suffered by the car accident victim are not clear. However, trauma doctors note that this type of head-on accident can cause traumatic brain injury, spinal injuries and broken bones as well as internal injuries in the abdomen. See this article and video for more about this hit-and-run accident.

Product Recall :: Play sleepers linked to infant deaths

Product safety experts have declared a significant concern over a possible dangerous product. Claims of possible wrongful death have been blamed on popular play sleepers. Advocates note that up to several dozen infant babies died when they were in the devices. They explain that the babies rolled over in the Fisher-Price Rock ‘n Play Sleepers when they were not seat-belted into the seat. The infants then could not breath due to the position and choked to death according to doctors. The concern raised by parents is that the device was unsafe for the age and stage of development for which the product was marketed. They noted that additional precautions, safety designs and warnings should have been in place to prevent personal injury or death. They add that the manufacturer was aware of the deaths of several accident victims from the dangerous situation but did nothing about it. The dangerous product recall was only started after the threat of personal injury lawsuits became overwhelmingly imminent. Unsuspecting parents say that there needs to be more accountability by the manufacturers and sellers of products such as these. Full investigation, follow up and immediate action must be taken when a hazardous or defective product is suspected. Any delayed recall places the public at significant risk according to health and safety specialists. To find out more about this defective product recall check out this site.
