Brooklyn bus accident injures passengers and driver

New York – Passengers involved in a bus crash several days ago were taken to the emergency room for evaluation of their injuries. Officials say that a passenger commuter bus operated by the City of New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) was involved in a serious collision. The MTA bus accident occurred when an apparently speeding car struck the bus. This car accident and left many victims injured according to emergency responders. The accident injuries from the car accident are not fully known at this point. It is suspected that some of the approximately 14 accident victims suffered neck and back pain, possible fractures and even suspected head injury. Police have reported that the cause of the motor vehicle accident (MVA) was an SUV truck that was speeding and fleeing from police. They note that reckless driving was involved and the vehicle ran through a stop sign just before slamming into the commuter bus. Rash of rental electric scooter accidents in New York City

New York – Electric moped scooters are a new rage in the rental and sharing market in the city. However, they have been involved in an increasing number of Revel electric scooter crashes according to news reports. Officials say that reckless drivers and other possible safety concerns have been implicated in these recent motor vehicle accidents. Concern has risen for the lack of safety equipment and warnings as well as training in the safe operation of these potentially dangerous electric vehicles. Pedestrians and motorists alike have expressed outrage regarding the dangerous condition that these vehicles have created. Pedestrian accidents with these moped scooters can cause serious injuries and even wrongful death. One woman was killed in an accident after she was thrown from one of these scooters. The accident injuries from these crashes can include bone fractures, head injury and spinal injuries as well as internal bleeding. Experts warn that the market must be well regulated and safety must be the foremost concern – safety of the riders, pedestrians, bicyclists and even cars and trucks on the roads. Special care and tracking must ensure that these high speed mopeds are not driven on sidewalks, in parks or other areas frequented by pedestrians and children. New York City construction accident injures and kills workers

New York – Several workers were injured on the job when a construction scaffolding accident sent debris slamming down onto the men. One of the injured workers suffered fatal injuries and died from his wounds at the hospital after doctors attempted to resuscitate him. The other work injury victims were also treated for their accident injuries according to authorities. The construction collapse seems to have occurred when a section of a wall or fencing fell from the rooftop of a building that was undergoing repairs. The facade had sections of scaffolding rigged to it when the falling debris hit the scaffold equipment and caused an equipment failure. Specifics of the mechanism of injury are still unclear. However, it is believed that either the men fell from the scaffold or that the falling metal, brick and concrete sections collapsed and crushed the workers. Further investigations into the cause and nature of this workplace accident with injuries will be necessary to prevent further wrongful death cases. At least two of the injured workmen have been noted to be in serious condition, with possible head injury, broken bones and possible internal organ damage and bleeding. Apparent reckless driver kills unborn baby, injures mother in car crash

New York – Staten Island’s Hylan Boulevard was the scene of a horrific two-car motor vehicle accident (MVA). One of the cars, an SUV, was apparently speeding when the driver lost control, crossed into oncoming traffic and slammed head-on into another vehicle. The driver of that first car suffered accident injuries, including a possible broken bone. However, the second vehicle, also an SUV, contained two accident victims that suffered much more severe injuries. The male driver of that car suffered a head injury and was taken to the hospital. His female front-seated passenger was pregnant at the time of the SUV accident and was also rushed to a trauma center. Doctors were forced to perform an emergency cesarean section delivery of the baby in an attempt to save the baby’s life. However, hospital officials explain that the newborn infant died of the injuries sustained in the MVA. The nature of the fatal wounds is still under investigation. Officials investigating the car collision believe that the first car was being driven by a reckless driver and that led to the SUV crash. The reckless driving together with the fact that the man was an unlicensed speeding driver has many concerned. Motorcycle accident on Long Island causes critical injuries

New York – Police are still investigating what led to a serious motorcycle crash in Nassau County. They say that two cars and one motorcycle were involved in a series of collisions. It is currently believed that one of the cars was making a turn when the biker slammed into the car. However, the motorcyclist lost control and crashed into an SUV. The motorcycle rider suffered life threatening accident injuries and emergency crews evacuated him to the trauma center of a nearby hospital. Trauma doctors explain that the seriousness of this kind of bike accident can lead to critical injuries, permanent disability and even death. Based on the mechanism of injury, these injuries can include traumatic brain injury (TBI), broken bones and fractures, internal organ damage and nerve damage. Police officers injured on the job in car crash

A car accident occurred on the highway leading to the Holland Tunnel approach into New York City. This set the scene for a subsequent car crash that injured several police officers. Reports show that responding police officers from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as well as Jersey City police departments were at the scene of the initial car collision. They were taking care of the accident scene and injured driver when another vehicle lost control and hit a barrier. That vehicle then hit one of the policemen and a police car, causing multiple accident injuries. The pedestrian accident caused one officer to suffer with serious injuries and several other cops suffered injuries as well. It is unclear why the two accidents occurred but specialists explain that distracted drivers often cause secondary collisions like this. They note that drivers often concentrate on the initial accident scene and flashing emergency lights and lose control over their vehicle. This is one of the reasons that many states, including New York, have created “move over laws” that require drivers to move over an extra lane on the highway or roadway when possible. Wall collapse kills construction worker and injured another victim

New York – Queens, NY was the scene of a construction accident recently. The wall collapse occurred in an area where demolition is being planned to clear the zone for new construction. Reports show that there were construction work vehicles or trucks in the area but it was unclear if active work was underway during the incident. The accident caused one construction worker to be crushed under the falling debris. Wind turbine blade breaks off and crashes into car

New York – Alternative energy sources are becoming ever popular in the past years, leading to concern regarding public safety and potential improper maintenance issues. They note that businesses have looked toward the profits without considering the hazardous condition that can be created, especially in residential and urban areas. Building facade collapse kills woman on Manhattan sidewalk

New York – Building debris collapsed down onto the sidewalk below in Midtown Manhattan just two days ago. A heavy section of facade apparently fell off of the face of the building and collapsed onto the pedestrians walking below. At least one section of rubble struck a 60-year-old woman, causing her to lose consciousness. She reportedly suffered a head injury with traumatic brain injury (TBI) during the deadly accident. Emergency responders arrived to find the woman in cardiac arrest from the accident injuries. They believe the traumatic arrest was due to a skull fracture with massive bleeding in her brain. Emergency medical services attempted to resuscitate the injury victim but were unsuccessful according to witnesses. Her injuries were so severe that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene according to officials.

Citizens in New York City expressed concern for their safety when hearing about this tragedy. No one expects debris to suddenly fall from the sky. City safety inspectors from the buildings department had cited this very building’s owner for an apparently related safety hazard. Records show that this building owner was issued a ticket for improper maintenance of the building’s facade only around eight months ago. They apparently paid the fine but it is unclear whether the underlying hazardous condition was fully addressed. A safety law in New York City requires proper professional inspections of the facade of buildings every five years minimally in order to prevent a dangerous situation similar to this pedestrian accident. Building inspectors will continue their investigation into this tragedy to determine the cause of the accident with fatal injuries. Motorcycle accident in Brooklyn involved improperly licensed rider

New York – Investigators into the cause of a motorcycle collision yesterday have indicated that the motorcycle rider did not hold the proper license and was therefore driving illegally. Police report that the crash involved two cars and the motorcyclist. Apparently, the driver of the motorcycle was driving dangerously, as he was attempting to do stunts, according to witnesses. They note that the dangerous driver was performing reckless maneuvers when his bike slammed into a car. That car then crashed into a second car after he was unable to stop. The motorcyclist was issued a citation and summons to court for his involvement in causing the car accident as well as his actions leading up to the crash. The charges may be based on the combination of being accused of being a reckless driver and not having the correct motorcycle license. The extent of the accident injuries is still unclear.
