Long Island car crash leaves victim dead and one man arrested

New York – The driver of a sport utility vehicle (SUV) died in a multi vehicle car collision on the Long Island Expressway. The man, a senior citizen, was the driver of one of five vehicles involved in the accident. Police report that the chain of events began when the SUV slammed into the highway divider and then rolled over into traffic. The roll-over accident then caused other vehicles to hit into that SUV that was in oncoming traffic. They believe that a medical emergency possibly led to the SUV truck accident. The other drivers and passengers in the accident suffered varying injuries according to emergency responders. However, police were forced to arrest one of those other drivers for driving without a license. Driver under the influence of drugs crashes head-on into another vehicle

New York – This horrific head-on collision occurred when a speeding driver entered the Queens-Midtown tunnel heading in the wrong direction. The wrong-way accident vehicle slammed into a car coming in the opposite direction, when it couldn’t swerve out of the way in time. A dashcam video of the car accident was taken from the car that was struck by the wrong-way driver. The video shows the car crash and the vehicles colliding and ultimately coming to an abrupt halt. Police indicated that the driver of the car that entered the tunnel in the wrong direction was high on drugs. They believe that he had been using both cocaine and marijuana at the time of the motor vehicle collision. He apparently fled the scene of the accident with injuries. The hit-and-run accident was witnessed and a police officer who had just entered the tunnel stopped and arrested the fleeing man. In addition, that driver was apparently unlicensed and using his father’s vehicle. It is unclear if the father was aware or gave permission to the unlicensed man to use the car. Likewise, it is not certain whether or not the parent knew that his son would be driving while under the influence of drugs. Patient and ambulance worker injured on the job during assault

New York – Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) often treat assault victims but this is a case of the EMT becoming the injury victim himself after being attacked by a driver. The incident began with an emergency ambulance crew who were treating a sick elderly man when a passing driver became agitated. The driver of the car yelled at and threatened the EMT since the ambulance was blocking the road. The enraged driver then hit the pedestrian EMT while the ambulance worker attempted to move his patient out of the way. Reports show that both the EMT and the patient in the stretcher were injured in the pedestrian accident. Sources say that the worker suffered a shoulder injury while the original sick patient suffered a leg injury with possible leg fracture. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment, including evaluation for broken bones. Police arrested the driver of the car and criminal charges against the man are pending. He is accused of road rage that led to a physical assault. It turns out that the driver of that car was actually a hospital worker himself. Investigators looking into autopilot Tesla car crash that injured woman

Federal safety inspectors have been looking into details of a Tesla car accident that was driving in autopilot mode. The woman’s car crashed into a fire truck at a high rate of speed. Details about the collision are still being discussed as the driver admitted to being distracted by her cell phone while driving. However, she apparently explained that while she was the operator of the vehicle, she wasn’t in fact driving at the moment of impact since she had engaged the autopilot mode. The manufacturer of the car has explained that the driver must always remain vigilant and in control of the vehicle, even when the autopilot is turned on. The driver must maintain his or hands on the wheel and eyes must remain on the road in order to avoid road hazards and make corrections. The woman suffered accident injuries that were relatively minor. They included an ankle injury with a broken bone. However, the force of the collision could have also caused a neck and back injury or other serious life-threatening injuries, according to experts. This is not the first time a Tesla car was involved in a motor vehicle accident while in autopilot mode. A car crash involving an Apple engineer killed the driver in another case. Officials from Tesla also blamed that deadly accident on driver error, saying that the operator was a distracted driver. Deadly drag racing car crash blamed on drunk drivers

New York – Two car accident victims were killed last week on the Nassau Expressway near the border between Long Island and Queens. Five other victims were injured in the highway accident according to police reports. The two victims that were killed were a recently engaged couple that were driving home when they were hit. The collision caused their car to burst into flames and the trapped couple died in the fire. Emergency responders explained that the multi-vehicle car accident left tremendous amounts of damage and injuries ranging from broken bones to spinal injuries to critical injuries. Investigators into the cause of the fatal collision have noted several pieces of evidence that point to reckless driving, drag racing and even drunk driving. Police have arrested and charged two of the people involved in the crash. They believe that the cause of the accident was well more than just carelessness or even negligence. Data shows increased incidence of deaths from accident injuries

The recent release of data on the causes of death in the United States shows some disturbing statistics regarding fatal accidents. The study by the National Safety Council (NSC) showed yet another significant increase in car crashes with life-threatening injuries. Public safety specialists express concern regarding this, in light of the efforts to increase design safety of motor vehicles and roads as well as safe driving campaigns. Stolen car involved in multiple vehicle car crash in Brooklyn

New York – The Belt Parkway in Brooklyn was the scene of a serious car accident involving three vehicles this week. Police believe that the collision began with a stolen SUV speeding down the highway without its headlights on, being driven by the car thief. The thief stole the vehicle in Crown Heights and then drove it recklessly through the city streets until he rear-ended another SUV. That SUV accident didn’t stop the dangerous driver, who fled the scene of the accident and then hit another car. The man then fled the scene of that second collision and eventually hit the highway divider and caused a roll-over accident. Eventually he jumped out of the damaged vehicle and ran away on foot, according to investigators. In his wake, the reckless driving car thief left eight injured accident victims, who were all taken to various New York hospitals. Injuries from taxi accident involving two cabs on Manhattan street

New York – This car crash involved two taxis that collided after one of the drivers apparently ran through a red light. Witnesses of the red light accident explained that one of the vehicles, a minivan, T-boned the car, causing that second vehicle to jump the curb. After running onto the sidewalk, it crashed into pedestrians who were eating in a restaurant’s outdoor seating area. One of the accident victims was a baby who was thrown from his stroller and fell to the ground. He suffered a leg injury with suspected broken bone. Several additional injury victims were passengers in one of the cabs. The young child was the most seriously injured in this sidewalk accident according to authorities. Drunk driver blamed for fatal car crash in Queens

New York – Police investigators from the NYPD have determined that an intoxicated driver caused the four car accident on the Grand Central Parkway this past Sunday. The tragic crash began when the driver of an SUV, apparently drunk, hit a second SUV truck causing a series of collisions.
