Police officer injured in on-the-job pedestrian accident

New York – A Long Island police officer was injured at work when he was hit by a car on the highway. The cop, working for the Suffolk County ‎Police Department, was working on the side of the highway investigating an unrelated car crash. His ‎investigation soon turned into a second car accident when a pick-up truck crashed suddenly into his ‎police cruiser, then crushing into the policeman. The injured officer suffered a severe head injury with ‎traumatic brain injury (TBI) during the pedestrian accident. The TBI included a traumatic intracranial ‎hemorrhage according to officials. The accident victim was taken in for emergency brain surgery to ‎reduce swelling from the brain bleed and he remained on a ventilator in a medically induced coma. He ‎was also evaluated for neck and back spinal injuries as well as additional wounds from the truck ‎collision. New York City Police accident causes injuries in Brooklyn

New York – Borough Park in Brooklyn was the scene of a New York Police Department (NYPD) car crash involving one of their police cruisers. The police car accident occurred while the police officers were responding to an emergency call for help. Reports show that a second vehicle slammed into the officer’s vehicle during the late evening collision. The police car jumped the curb and then struck two pedestrians and finally hit the storefront of a nearby building. The cause of the on-the-job accident is unclear but specialists note that the officers’ injuries should fall under their worker’s compensation insurance. New York EMT injured at work on emergency call

New York – This is the second time within a couple of weeks where we report about an emergency medical technician (EMT) who suffered a work injury. Once again we learn of a story of an ambulance worker who was assaulted while on-duty, this time by the patient. The EMT was pregnant herself and taking care of an injured but intoxicated man, when she was assaulted by the patient. The drunk man punched the pregnant EMT in her stomach and then fled the scene. The emergency responder suffered injuries during the attack and was taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment. Meanwhile, her attacker ran away and is being searched for by police. An injury lawyer specialist in Manhattan explained that a claim will need to be filed with the worker’s compensation insurance carrier since the injury occurred on the job. Actor suffers injuries during an accident at work

New York – A Broadway show actor was injured at work when his leg was trapped in a piece of stage equipment. The trap door machine mechanism closed on the victim’s foot prematurely and caused the accident. The injured man was rescued from the device when workers cut through the stage set and called for an ambulance. Reports from the ambulance crew show that the accident victim suffered a severe leg injury including broken bones. He was rushed to a nearby trauma center in midtown New York City for evaluation and treatment of his injuries. Co-workers and bystanders expressed concern regarding the safety of the equipment and machines being used on the show. Some pointed out several previous accidents with injuries on the same set since they began work on the show. Previous accidents on the set have included one worker suffering rib fractures, another man sustaining herniated discs and other spinal injuries, a woman who suffered a head injury with concussion and yet another actress who fractured bones in both wrists. Work accidents in New York cause injuries and concern

New York — Worker safety activists relate that a series of workplace injuries due to accidents have occurred over the past several days. One involved a crane accident that crashed into the roof of a house in a suburban area of Clarkstown. The worker was cutting and clearing a tree and the associated debris from the site when the accident struck. Construction and work safety investigators were looking into why the crane collapsed and fell onto the home. Meanwhile, the workman was being evaluated for accident injuries that may not have been immediately apparent. On the same day, another man was injured at work in an unrelated accident in Staten Island, NY. This worker suffered a broken leg when he fell into an open elevator shaft.
